Happy Jeet Kune Do Student
As a woman, I was a bit intimidated by pairing up with the guys at first and was concerned they might be bummed out about getting paired with me, but I have, honestly, never, met such a nice group of people. The guys kept reminding me that everyone was a beginner at once and that it is just as good for them to train with different skill levels and people. The first week or two was a bit nerve wracking, as is learning anything new, but the environment and the people are so inviting that I still had a wonderful time. I have since felt myself progress so much that I am actually excited to get to class and pair up with whomever I get and continue to learn and advance. I can not say enough good things about Jeff, Ed, Jean-Claude, and Dan. Whether you're advanced in martial arts or just getting in to it, I absolutely recommend this place!

Muay Thai Kickboxing (Thai Boxing)
Thai Boxing, often called 'The Art of Eight Limbs' uses Fists, Elbows, Knees and Kicks to strike an opponent or attacker. They are EXPERTS in the Four Empty Hand Standing Ranges (Kicking Range, Boxing Range, Trapping Range, Standing Grappling Range). Some techniques are even banned in MMA!
Muay Thai Kickboxing is the most vicious form of striking in the world. Other striking arts like Boxing only use their Hands to strike with, Full Contact Karate (American Kickboxing) uses Hands and Feet, Savate/Boxe Francaise (French Kickboxing) only uses hands and feet but they wear shoes while fighting. Muay Thai is the only one that uses Hands, Feet, Elbows, and Knees. Also, Clinching or Standing Grappling is discouraged in the other Boxing and Kickboxing styles it id ENCOURAGED in Thai Kickboxing! Thai Boxers are considered 'on par' with Greco Roman Wrestlers when it comes to upper body grappling. When watching a Muay Thai Kickboxing fight you can expect to see Throws, Trips, and Sweeps in Combination with the Punches, Elbows, Kicks, and Knees! On top of being a great form of self defense, Muay Thai is also one of the hardest workouts you can do! You can easily burn over 1,000 calories during an intense Muay Thai workout. You will be dripping sweat as you carve that hard, lean and muscular look that you’ve been looking for, all while learning how to kick butt in the process!
Muay Thai is Fun, Challenging, a GREAT Workout, and Excellent for Self Defense!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the single most effective martial art you can learn for self defense. Unlike most martial arts, Jiu Jitsu doesn’t rely on size and strength. It’s all about leverage and joint manipulation.
A smaller person could easily use BJJ techniques to defeat a much larger and stronger opponent. Since real-world fights often end up on the ground, training in a martial art that focuses exclusively on ground combat is both practical and prudent. An added bonus of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is that it will get you in shape.
Best of all, with Jiu Jitsu, exercise is fun, never a chore.
Jeet Kune Do
Jeet Kune Do translates in “Way of the Intercepting Fist”and was named for the CONCEPT of interception, or attacking your opponent while he is about to attack. Jeet Kune Do was created by Bruce Lee in 1967. The system works on the use of different ‘tools’ for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping and Grappling), with techniques flowing smoothly between them. It is referred to as a “style without style”.
Unlike more traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts. Also, unlike traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not the same for everyone. For example, when you study Karate, Kung Fu, or Tae Kwon Do you will learn and utilize the art the same way everyone who has come before you has. You could be 4’10” and 87lbs or you could be 6’8” and 265lbs and your Karate, Kung Fu, or Tae Kwon Do would look the same.

They learn success traits that will pay off for the rest of their lives.
Kali, Eskrima, Arnis
Arnis, the most systematic and the best known fighting art in the Philippines is a reflection of the Filipino people’s history, their philosophy, and their culture. Arnis boasts a long historical development from the Kali systems. Kali (Silat) comes from the word kalis, which implies a blade, is the oldest form of weaponry in the Phillipines and is the mother to escrima. The naturally graceful, harmoniously circular movements used in the Filipino martial arts are characteristic of the methods found in other Asian countries.
In order to better understand the dynamics of the unique Filipino martial arts, it is to take a brief look at the historical roots of the culturally and racially diversified society of the Philippines. The Philippine islands has an area of 115,707 square miles. It consists of more than 7,000 islands, only 154 of which have an area exceeding five square miles. Most of the population is concentrated on eleven islands exceeding 1,000 square miles each, in three major areas: Luzon, the Visayan islands, and Mindanao.
